ROMANCING MISTER BRIDGERTON

Penelope Featherington has secretly adored her best friend’s brother for… well, it feels like forever. After half a lifetime of watching Colin Bridgerton from afar, she thinks she knows everything about him, until she stumbles across his deepest secret… and fears she doesn’t know him at all.

Colin Bridgerton is tired of being thought nothing but an empty-headed charmer, tired of the neverending sameness of his life, and, most of all, tired of everyone’s preoccupation with the notorious gossip columnist Lady Whistledown, who can’t seem to publish an edition without mentioning him in the first paragraph. But when Colin returns to London from a trip abroad, he discovers nothing in his life is quite the same—especially Penelope Featherington! The girl who was always simply… there is suddenly the girl haunting his dreams. But when he discovers that Penelope has secrets of her own, this elusive bachelor must decide… is she his biggest threat—or his promise of a happy ending?

WRITING!

I actually was quite disappointed with the plot in this book. SPOILERS AHEAD. As we all know Penelope is Lady Whistledown, but even after her identity is discovered by her lover Collin, she still moves forward with giving up Lady Whistledown. Which means she will no longer be in other books moving forward. I was honestly expecting them two to team and write Lady Whistledown.

Other than that, this book did seem to drag a bit more than the others, which was disappointing since I was so excited for the big revel in this novel.

HOT or NOT?

I love Penelope, she is such an unseen character. But her personality is much like everyone else's, like sarcasm and witty banter. So why did people cast her aside? Is it because of her weight, which yes, it wasn’t “in fashion” to weigh more than the standard size. *insert eye roll*. These people who ignore Penelope missed out on such a beautiful and hilarious lady!

Also, I was disappointed in Collin’s character. He was supposed to be the “sensitive” one out of the Bridgerton brothers. But he was controlling, demanding Penelope to lay Lady Whistledown to rest (even though she already had). It seemed he did not care for Penelope's life’s works. I get he wanted to protect her because if anyone had found her out she could have been casted even more aside by society. But that is her decision to make, not his.

It’s still worth the read, but maybe not as much so as the others.

As always, I do recommend forming your own opinion, so there is a direct link to the book up above. And I always welcome feedback on my own critique as I’m not always right.
